We would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas today. We hope that you have oppertunity to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. As per usual we will not be delivering CSA boxes this week. My employees take vacation this week so that they can rest as well. I think that 2018 was probably one of the most unpredictable weather seasons that I have ever experienced. Between the damaging frost in June, an extremely hot and dry summer, and a very wet and cold fall we had a bit of everything this year. Because of the cold and wet fall we have not picked any coldframe spinach, arugula, or mache yet. I expect all of these crops will start in late January. We will have micro mix available when we start up the CSA in January. I do expect that we will have more greens than usual in the later part of the winter and early spring. We did have a very good fruit crop this year. We were very lucky because there was a lot of apple crop loss and damage in the valley because of the June frost. We will begin taking apples out of long term storage in a couple weeks. These apples should be very crisp textured. Pears should last 5 or 6 weeks before they are finished but we should have nice apples for a long time yet. The first CSA delivery of 2019 will be on January 9. We have decided not to make a delivery on January 2nd because I want to extend my holiday as long as I can. I'm trying to relax and take it easy for the next week or so. I hope that you have some time to do the same. ted
