Hutten Family Farm Newsletter for Monday Jun 25, 2012

The rain that came over the weekend amounted to about 1.4 inches in our community. Other areas of the valley had from half an inch to over four inches from the same system. With more rain in the forecast this week things are looking better.
Our production of many crops has been delayed and reduced by the very dry weather this spring. I would expect significant amounts of zucchini and snap peas and snow peas this week thanks to the rain. We will start planting and transplanting again this week. There was not enough moisture in the soil for good germination over the last couple weeks so I have not been planting.
There should be strawberries in the boxes again this week. They have been affected by the drought and the season will be very short for us. Blueberries and raspberries look much better and they will be coming soon.
I have to get started; it's past six and I need to get some things ready for the employees.
     Have a good week.
