Hutten Family Farm Newsletter for Sunday Jun 19, 2011

We sure have been blessed with an abundance of rain this past week. It is rather unfortunate that I try to grow vegetables instead of raising fish. Sunshine is in the forecast for the next couple of days which should help.
We are finally getting into some new crops for summer. The standard boxes should all have shelling peas, snow peas, strawberries, and hopefully bunched baby carrots this week. There will be various kinds of berries and fruit in the boxes this summer. Apples will not return until fall.
We are getting quite behind schedule with both planting and weeding now. I always blame the weather or something else that is beyond my control. The weather is partly to blame but not entirely. I often feel like I have too much on my mind. Maybe my mind is too small. We should be caught up by the end of the month with the extra summer help coming.
There are quite a few CSA totes that are missing. If you have any extra ones that are hanging around the house please bring them back when you remember, saves us from having to purchasing unnecessarily. Another housekeeping note is that summer vacation time is approaching and you may need to take a week or two off from your box of veggies.  Please remember to login to your account to put your box on hold by monday midnight, then reactivate when you return (by monday midnight).  If you've forgotten how to do this email Debra and she'll remind you of your password.  Not only will this save us from making up wasted boxes of veggies, it will save you paying for them.  Have a good week.     Ted
