Hutten Family Farm Newsletter for Tuesday Oct 5, 2010

Hi everyone,
It is Tuesday morning and I am just writing you a few notes. We are still full steam ahead in the harvest season and I do not seem to have enough awake time these days. Our days are divided between market/CSA harvesting, apple and vegetable harvesting for winter storage, and planting in the greenhouses for late fall and winter harvesting of greens.
I am trying to make the boxes a little bit thanksgiving-like this week. They should include: buttercup squash, bosc pears, cortland apples, baby spinach(first pick from the cold frames), bunch baby carrots, fennel, parsley, red pac choi, and an end of season sno-pea crop. We will also include a jug of apple cider. The cider has a shelf life of about a week in the fridge. You can freeze it if you need it to last longer. Have a nice thanksgiving.
