We should finally see a significant cooling trend by later this week.We have been picking apples for a few days now and the weather has been quite warm. It seems much more warm than it  actually is when you are lifting lots of apples for most of the day. A lot of the summer vegetables are starting to slow down now but things like broccoli, pac choi, cauliflower, nappa, broccolini and squash will be coming on next.
Overall I would say that this season has been one of the more challenging seasons that I have had. The frost in early June damaged many crops and continues to impact things like tomatoes. We also are seeing some damage in the apples but most of the damage in my orchards is fairly superficial. I do expect a good apple crop and we have had a great plum and peach crop as well. I did grow enough nectarines and apricots this year to eat myself but it will take another year or two before I can sell them.
The CSA boxes will have 1 or 2 types of Asian greens each week over the next couple months. Most of these greens can be quickly sautéed or steamed. Some of the baby choi types are very good as salad with a bit of sesame oil, rice vinegar, and honey. I hope you enjoy them.
     Have a good week.
