I think that the weather this fall has given us the most consistently good growing conditions that I have seen. We still are picking a few green and yellow beans in the field as well as a few tomatoes. We sold the last field grown eggplant and zucchini last weekend. This is two weeks later than I have ever experienced. It has been a very extended harvest season.
We are nearing the end of the apple harvest now. Squash is all in storage and we are in the middle of harvesting various root crops and kohlrabi. All of the cabbages, kales, carrots, salsify, parsnips, parsley root, and lots of other cold tolerant crops will stay outside for another two or three weeks before we began picking them.
I have winter greens planted and growing well. We have arugula, kales, spinach, mache, mustard greens, and some Asian greens growing this winter. We will also start micromix in another month or so. These crops look really good as well. Overall it has been a very good growing year for most of our crops.
Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts. We are supposed to be 23 degrees today in the valley.
